Serco is a leading international service company that manages and improves essential services that matter to millions of people around the world, in areas such as defence, education, health, transportation and local government. The London Cycle Hire Scheme, now known as Barclays Cycle Hire, is operated on behalf of Transport for London (TfL).
Serco required specialist support to develop and manage a logistics plan for the Scheme, to ensure a successful implementation and launch within the overall project timescale.
Total Logistics developed a robust logistics plan including the modelling and scheduling of the initial distribution of 4,409 cycles to over 330 docking stations during the 20 hours leading up to the official launch by the Mayor of London.
